Yoga Therapy

Drawing from a combination of yoga sciences to reduce pain & enhance well-being

Yoga views individuals as a whole. Our physical, mental, emotional states, then, are not hermetic cogs with no influence on each other. They are, infact, highly interdependent.

Yoga Therapy or Cikitsā attempts to cure an illness, pain, or an imbalance by bringing together different elements of our existence - Āsana (body), Vihāram (environment), Prānāyāma (breath), Āharam (food), and Dhāraṇā (concentration). The elements are brought together to create a practice that works uniquely and only for the individual.

"I practice Yoga Cikitsā to help my participants remove what is hindering their sense of well-being – whether it is physical pain, mental anguish, or emotional baggage. And handhold them gently while they move towards the point where health and joy meet."

- Uttara Venugopal

Yoga Cikitsā has proved to be a hugely successful and sustainable solution to any and all of the conditions in the categories below.

- skeleto-muscular

- respiratory

- digestive and cardiovascular

- sensory conditions

- mental and emotional well-being

- auto-immune disorders

- treatment for those with special needs

- conditions relating to nervous, endocrine, reproductive, urinary, and lymphatics systems

"... your overall guidance has made a significant difference in my physical as well as overall sense of well being - more mindful, less intense etc. Less anxious about re-injuring my back.

It has given me greater confidence and endurance in my physical activities.

I can honestly say that since I started working with you just few months ago, I have experienced far greater improvement than over the past 2-3 years of trying various things (Orthopedic surgeon, physical therapists, personal trainers, chiropractor, massage therapist, acupuncture etc.)".
